The Athertons have been a permanent fixture on the downhill scene for years. Speed is a top priority in this British family. The sibling trio are world-class mountain bikers. The steeper, the faster, the crazier the descent, the higher the fun factor - that could be the motto of these downhill bikers. The 32-year-old Rachel in particular, who was the first British woman to win the MTB Downhill World Championships, shines with numerous victories at the top of the world rankings. To date, she has not only shown her skills on the race track, but also on the family's YouTube channel "Atherton Racing".
Taking advantage of the coronavirus lockdown, Rachel has now emancipated herself a little and launched her own YouTube channel separate from her brothers. She launched her first video on 5 May 2020, in which she talks about the lengthy healing process of her ankle injury. Rachel was in the Training at the Downhill World Cup in Les Gets landed awkwardly after a jump and tore his Achilles tendon. His recovery took over six months. With a mixture of private insights, good-humoured commentary and spectacular footage of the fateful descent in Les Gets and the return to training, the first video is thoroughly convincing.
The second clip, which followed just five days later and documents Rachel's dedication and passion for building a pump track with extraordinary jumping opportunities, is already looking forward to regular cool shots.
