Pros say what they think: downhiller Richie Rude speaks plainly
Richie Rude (30) from Redding, Connecticut/USA won the Downhill World Championships as a junior in 2013, but surprisingly switched to enduro racing. The fast American won the EWS in 2015 and '16, but was stripped of his third title (2017) due to doping. This year, Rude wants to race downhill again.

We asked Richie Rude what moves him:

Motocrossing is the best way for me to switch off. Or I go fishing, which works wonders. But I can also relax very well while biking.
People keep telling me that I look like Matt Damon. Yes, apparently I do.
Accusations of doping persist. I still get asked about it - ha ha!
Les Orres was the most fun I've had in the EWS race calendar!
The science fiction series Mandalorian is my favourite TV show.
Red Bull Hardline? I would never want to take part in that. The fat jumps scare me.
My favourite way to train is on the rowing machine. As a tall guy, I have to be particularly strong.
I had got so used to the name EWS and now it's suddenly called the Enduro World Cup. I hope only the name changes and a lot of things stay the same! Because it was a good thing.
I can only advise every mountain biker to do the bunny hop. I can't get super high, but I can manage it on the picnic table.
Finishing the EWS race in Sugarloaf with a broken shoulder blade really pushed me to the limit. That was definitely a test of courage.
I'm often asked whether I had the idea of trimming my video edit "The Silent Shredder" to silent film. Unfortunately I didn't, someone from Yeti came up with the idea. I had a lot of fun filming the clip in Schladming. Take a look at the film!

I'm riding the Downhill World Cup again this season. But I still need more time on the big bike to get the confidence I need. It would be nice if I could make it to the final more often.
I'm not a tech nerd, but I'm a bit interested in how this stuff works.
I'm pretty stoked about my edit of Yeti: "New Roots run deep". What do you think?

And if you're stoked about Richie's films: here's another one fresh from Fort William.
