Mountain bike freeride star Brage Vestavik combines classic freeriding with a modern riding style. The result is Trolldom, probably one of the most impressive bike videos of the year. It centres on impressive chicken ladder constructions in the remote forests of Canada.

Mountain bike freeriding is in a crisis of meaning. Many see the spirit of the sport in danger. Instead of impressive lines and remote locations, creative trick combinations are taking centre stage. Stunts that critics would rather see in a skate park! But one seasoned athlete has been flying the flag for classic freeriders in recent years: Norwegian Brage Vestavik. His latest edit is also an absolute eye-catcher - without any backflips, tail-whips or 360s! Instead: Appropriate music by Black Sabbath and mystical scenes.

Freeride at it's best with Brage Vestavik

Trolldom is by no means the first clip with which the Norwegian has attracted attention. And his return to classic freeride values is nothing new either. His attempt at the legendary Jah Drop in Utah, for example, where Josh Bender made a name for himself in the early days of freeriding, is legendary. You can see the insane drop here in the video.

Brage has also made the acquaintance of some nasty wooden ladders. His log ride drop from the bike film "Esperanto" is legendary. In addition to the height of the drop, the Norwegian was particularly worried about the approach via the narrow chicken ladder: "I have no idea how high the drop actually was. What worried me was: would I even make it to the end of the tree trunk?"

Florentin Vesenbeckh has been on a mountain bike since he was ten years old. Even on his very first tour, he focussed on single trails - and even after more than 30 years in the saddle of an MTB, these are still the quintessence of biking for him. He spent his youth competing in various bike disciplines and later his cycling career was characterised by years as a riding technique coach. Professionally, the experienced test editor now focusses on e-mountainbikes. In recent years, the qualified sports scientist and trained journalist has tested over 300 bikes and more than 40 different motor systems in the laboratory and in practice.
