Just in time for the start of summer time, the MTB Club Stuttgart is calling on its more than 1,300 members to combine the Sunday ride on 28 March 2021 with a litter collection campaign. Of course, pedestrians, hikers and joggers are also welcome to join the nature clean-up campaign. Similar to the trend sport "plogging", which originated in Scandinavia, the bikers' idea is to combine exercise in nature with litter collection.

Where is the cleaning done?
Litter is collected in the forests in the districts of Stuttgart, Fellbach, Kernen im Remstal, Gerlingen and Siebenmühlental. Unfortunately, there is currently a lot of rubbish lying around, especially along roads, in car parks and at barbecue sites and benches - in other words, wherever people like to spend time. This shows how much pressure the forest has been subjected to in recent weeks and months.
Members of Mountainbike Stuttgart e. V. will be at the collection points between 12:00 and 15:00. There, cyclists can first pick up equipment such as disposable gloves and rubbish bags and later return them together with the collected rubbish.
What can bikers expect at the collection points?
The points are positioned so that they are evenly distributed throughout the forests and are also located in areas where experience has shown that there is a lot of rubbish. A beach flag from the mountain bike club is placed at most of the collection points to make it easier to find. The club members are rewarded with a small thank-you for their commitment to a litter-free forest. The rubbish is then collected the next day by the respective city cleaning service.

Mountainbike Stuttgart e. V. was founded in February 2020 and now has more than 1,300 members. In addition to the cohesion and expansion of the MTB community in Stuttgart, the association prioritises the common interest in legal trails in the region.
