Daniel Steinhauser: World record for a good cause

Steinhauser reeled off his Zwift kilometres in a fitness studio in Bad Waldsee (Baden-Württemberg) on a Orbea Orca road bike and a Elite Smarttrainer and was visibly relieved to have broken the record. "I could have chosen a world record that I would definitely break, but I didn't want to do that," Steinhauser told the SWR.

The extreme athlete's event also served a good cause. Anyone who wanted to could hire a spinning bike from the fitness studio on 12 and 13 October and accompany Steinhauser. The proceeds will benefit the SBBZ (Special Education and Counselling Centre for Blind and Visually Impaired Children and Young People of the St. Franziskus Foundation in Baindt). The event also featured a supporting programme with music and guests.

More records in 2024

In addition to Steinhauser's world record, there have been several other outstanding records set this year. In September, for example, Lael Wilcox set a new world record for women for the fastest round-the-world bike ride and on Strava, the Tracing the Olympic rings. And Jonas Deichmann drove with 120 triathlons in 120 days also set a world record.
