E-bike fans and those who want to become e-bike fans will meet at the E-Motions Festival on Lake Millstatt in Carinthia from 27 to 29 May 2022.
The region could hardly be more beautiful and attractive for an e-bike event: Lake Millstatt in Carinthia. Gentle meadow hills on one side, alpine heights and the green Nockberge mountains on the other, enticing lidos and attractive cycle routes everywhere - a total of 1400 kilometres that are best enjoyed on an e-bike.
For three days, visitors to the E-motions festivals The opportunity to test the latest equipment, get advice from professionals and explore the beautiful landscape with a gentle tailwind - whether with a guide or on your own. On the expo site at the Seezentrum in Seeboden, manufacturers such as KTM, Cannondale and Sloot will be showcasing their latest e-bikes of all categories, from urban bikes to e-MTBs, and will be happy to answer any questions - test ride included. The festival supporting programme includes exciting bike acrobatics shows, a children's course, e-bike party, guided tours, etc.
Professional tour guides accompany participants on the latest e-bikes, e-MTBs and even e-racing bikes to the most beautiful box seats on and around Lake Millstatt.
Anyone interested in the touristic and economic aspects of cycling as well as the fun of riding will have the opportunity to hear experts speak about the opportunities and development possibilities of cycling tourism in Carinthia at the Carinthian Cycling Forum on 25 May. Topics to be discussed include "Resolving conflicts of interest", "Steps towards the realisation of cycle paths", "Carinthia as an internationally recognised cycling destination" and "Crisis-proofing the cycling industry".
"Stefan Limbrunner, Managing Director of KTM Austria, will talk about the economic aspect," says Paco Wrolich, Cycling Project Manager at Kärnten Werbung, giving a foretaste. Frank Uekermann, the main person responsible for Freiburg's transport and cycling infrastructure (in Breisgau), will explain in his presentation how the city has become the leading cycling city in southern Germany. One focus of the programme will be an expert discussion on the implementation and legalisation of MTB paths and trails.
One thing is certain: the cycle path network in the Millstätter See - Bad Kleinkirchheim - Nockberge tourist region is impressive. It offers 1000 kilometres of road bike routes, 355 kilometres of trails and mountain bike routes as well as over 500 kilometres of designated routes for leisure cyclists.
Around 30 years ago, pioneering work was carried out in the region and nock/bike was one of the first established bike brands in Austria. The aim now is to maintain this lead. "Biking is one of our most important guiding themes. That's why we hired a bike coordinator about two years ago. Roland Gutzinger is our man when it comes to constantly improving the cycling infrastructure together with all stakeholders," says Stefan Brandlehner, Managing Director of the tourism region.
