Brakes on: On the third day of the BIKE Festivals in Willingen the signs were pointing to full throttle. The iXS Downhill Cup series had already gathered momentum at the third stop this year. The starters were allowed to take this as a motto for Willingen. Because momentum was everything here when it came to mastering the flatter sections at V-max.

"We will deviate from the usual route in some places in order to adapt the course to the safety requirements and offer an exciting difference to the normal course," explained André Baumbach, organiser of the iXS Downhill Cup, in the run-up to the latest course change.
Did that make it an easy route? Not at all. Because it didn't forgive any mistakes, precisely because of its characteristics. Brake once and the best time was gone. That's why everyone had a chance of winning here. Sabine Vicze won the women's elite class ahead of Justine Welzel and Steffi Marth. In the men's race, Frenchman Cédric Taillefer finished ahead of his compatriot Ian Guionnet. Timo Pries came third. More about the race on racement.com >>
