At 11 a.m. and in bright sunshine, the gates to the Expo des Continental BIKE Festivals in Saalfelden/Leogang open. Here, 30 well-known exhibitors will be presenting their new products, which can be admired and tested until Sunday 12 September. Whether big or small, specialist or newcomer, downhill, pump track or flow trail: there is a suitable test bike for everyone here. In the middle of one of the largest bike parks in Europe, the area also offers perfect testing opportunities and the best conditions for honing your riding technique or learning new moves.
The three workshops, which were led by bike pros Joost Wichmann, Jasper Jauch and Lukas Schäfer, were particularly well organised today under professional guidance. For example, the "Downhill Chill Workshop" with Jasper Jauch was less chilled out than the name suggests. "I was a little sceptical at first whether it would work well with the large and colourful group," admits Jasper. The level of the participants ranged from beginner to advanced, the youngest biker was only 13 years old and the oldest rider was over 40. "But after a short time, I realised that everyone harmonised really well. What's more, the bike park here has something for every level," continues Jauch. His protégés are also satisfied and have nothing but positive things to say. "Just a great guy and super technical training," says Jörg Haselbacher happily after the workshop. The youngest, Rina Ferner, also speaks of a "cool, funny Jasper", from whom she learnt how to corner properly.
For two days, the numerous visitors can test and train for all they're worth. Numerous guided tours for every ability level are on the programme. Of course, the various bike park routes can also be explored on your own. The 'Pump Track World Championship Qualifier' on Saturday will be a particular highlight. This is where the pump track specialists will battle it out for a place at the World Championships in Lisbon.
It is thanks to a comprehensive hygiene concept that this great event can be held safely. The 3G rule applies throughout the Expo site. Only those who have been vaccinated, recovered or tested will be granted access to the exhibitor area. In addition, every visitor must register via an app for contact tracing.
