There was one thing you could always rely on: the FSA BIKE Festival Garda Trentino. It attracts thousands of mountain bikers to Riva del Garda every year to kick off the season. However, the global Covid-19 pandemic has also put a spanner in the works for the 2020 season opener on Lake Garda.
After the organisers, partners and sponsors had hoped until the end that the event could be held at a later date, it is now clear that it will not be possible to hold it in 2020: "Following a recent decision, the Trentino region has banned all large events with more than 1000 visitors until mid-October. And even after that, it is unfortunately not possible for us to organise a BIKE Festival of this size this autumn due to the excessive requirements of the Italian authorities," says Mathias Ley, Managing Director of the event agency Yunique.
The good news: a new The date for 2021 has already been set: from 30 April to 2 May The starting signal for the 2021 mountain bike season will be given at Lake Garda. Starting places already booked will remain valid for the new date in 2021. Participants can send their questions by e-mail to service@yunique.de.
However, there are good prospects for the two Continental BIKE Festivals in Saalfelden Leogang (11-13 September 2020) and Willingen (2-4 October). "As organisers, we are currently putting our energy into staging these events, for which you can still register," says Monika Weber, Event Manager at Delius Klasing Verlag. Up-to-date information on the popular MTB events can be found on the Festival websites and their social media channels.
