All Eurobike Award winners at a glance

Only the most innovative products in the bicycle and accessories industry receive the Eurobike Award. Gold Award, Green and Start-Up: Here are all 45 winners. A look beyond the horizon of bike sport.

Eurobike is increasingly being infiltrated by urban (e-)mobility. Although it is better to cycle in the city than to drive a car, for example. Nevertheless, we are of course delighted to be able to show you numerous award-winning innovations from the mountain bike sector from the expert jury. Here we present all the winners of the Eurobike Awards 2018.

"The range of the 350 Eurobike Award submissions that we were able to judge as a jury was very broad and also reflected the important trends: Transport solutions, e-support, children and safety," said jury member Sissi Pärsch after the work was done.

Her jury colleague Tarek Rasouli adds: "There are some products at the Eurobike Award that promise more safety or more comfort. Others are breaking new ground when it comes to sustainability. And there are many award winners this year that promise an exciting future as an urban means of transport. What all Eurobike Award winners have in common is that they have the potential to make the world a little bit better."

The 13 best and particularly outstanding new products received the coveted Gold Award, the Green Award was presented twice for special sustainability and five products from young companies were honoured with the Start-Up Awards. Here is an overview of the award-winning products:

START UP AWARD WINNER - Split Belt Drive from Veer Statement from the Eurobike Start-Up Award jury: "This innovation of an open belt, which can also be retrofitted, will bring real progress if the functionality proves itself. The disadvantage of having to make changes to the frame in order to replace the belt is no longer a problem, while the familiar advantages of the belt drive are retained."

We were particularly impressed by the simple routing via light signals. GPS and GSM connection for the corresponding app are already integrated in the handlebars. The price-performance ratio is also very good for navigation systems.

START UP AWARD and GOLD AWARD WINNER - muli Manufacturer: muli-cycles - The muli is a cargo bike for everyday urban use that is as small and manoeuvrable as a normal city bike. The concept, production and business model focus on sustainability. All production steps from the frame to assembly take place in Germany. Statement from the Eurobike Award jury: "Everything about the 'muli' is just right. Thanks to its short wheelbase, narrow width and small frame, the bike is easy to control for both tall and short people. We were particularly impressed by how easy it is to install and remove the child seat and fold up the transport basket. Especially recommended for families."

AWARD WINNER - STAC Zero Halcyon Smart Trainer Manufacturer: STAC Performance - Jury Statement: We really like this new, completely silent solution for a roller trainer. The fact that the bike has no direct contact with the roller trainer thanks to the magnetic suspension means that there are no signs of wear on the bike.

AWARD WINNER - e-MTB Manufacturer: Tektro Technology Corporation - Jury Statement: With its thicker brake disc (2.3 mm, editor's note), this brake has been specially developed for the requirements of e-mountain bikes. This ensures a longer service life and longer maintenance intervals. We say: very sensible! Compared to the standard discs, which are five millimetres thinner, the disc promises endless stability and could also have been a tuning option for the <a href="https://www.bike-magazin.de/komponenten/bremsen/xxl-stopper-4-mtb-bremsen-im-labor-und-praxistest/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TRP Quadiem</a>, which is weak in this respect, but is unfortunately a little too thick.

AWARD WINNER - F 535 ONE Manufacturer: DT Swiss - Jury Statement: We were particularly impressed by the clean design of the new <a href="mtb_news/teile_zubehoer/dt-swiss-f535-one-new-enduro-mtb-gabel-und-daempfer/a39153.html" rel="noopener noreferrer">enduro suspension fork from DT Swiss</a>. Technically, it is also state of the art. It also showed very good response behaviour.

AWARD WINNER - BOLD UNPLUGGED Manufacturer: Bold Cycles - Jury Statement: The integration of cables and shock absorber on the <a href="mtb_news/mtb_neuheiten/eurobike-2018-bold-unplugged/a39053.html" rel="noopener noreferrer">Unplugged</a> is, in our opinion, very successful. Among other things, this prevents dirt from getting onto the shock, which can still be easily maintained.

The conversion from bicycle to pushchair and vice versa is easy. And the bike is easy to ride."

Statement from the Eurobike Award jury: "This safe and practical seat post has been developed for the urban cyclist. The saddle can be lowered with a lever at traffic lights, for example, and then returned to its original position for the onward journey. The suspension also ensures comfort. This seat post could therefore help to motivate more people to cycle."

Statement from the Eurobike Award jury: "With the Chike e, we are impressed by the entire concept. The children are well protected. The bike is compact and easy to steer thanks to the tilting technology. The tilting technology can be locked and the brakes locked for loading, a clever feature."

GOLD AWARD WINNER - SQlab grip series Manufacturer: SQlab - SQlab is one of the leading manufacturers of ergonomic components for bicycles. With an extensive collection of handlebar grips, the company from the south of Munich is offering a wide range of problem solvers for the interface between hand and bike in the coming model year. Statement from the Eurobike Award jury: "Alongside the saddle, the grips are the most important point of contact between man and bike. <a href="e_mtb/e_mtb_news_neuheiten/e-mtb-neuheiten-2018-sqlab-60x-sattel-und-70x-griffe/a38790.html" rel="noopener noreferrer">SQlab has expanded its ergonomic range with the new grip series.</a> With four different grip shapes, each in three different sizes, which are determined using a grip template, every cyclist will find the right grip."

The latest generation of In-Power cranks is not only a visually successful solution, but also opens up the topic of power measurement to new target groups with favourable entry-level prices. Statement from the Eurobike Award jury: "You can't tell from looking at the INpower Direct Mount that there is a power meter in the crankset. It is also very light and brings this useful training tool into a new price region."

With the new Stage full-face helmet, which features a low weight and numerous safety details, the brand from California emphasises its high standards. We also like the purist and minimalist design of the steel frame, which also rides superbly."
