Gaerne presents the new G.Zephyr: an Italian-made road cycling shoe with breathable G.Aeroknit upper material and a stiff carbon sole for efficient power transmission. Thanks to the G.Pro Fit on a narrower last and two BOA Li2 A twist fasteners, the fit can be precisely adjusted - even on the move while riding. The Gaerne G.Zephyr costs €299.90 and is aimed at ambitious road cyclists looking for a lightweight, performance-orientated shoe.

The Italian manufacturer has based the shoe on the G.Pro Fit last. This narrower, race-orientated shape is designed to improve power transfer and pedal feedback. The Aeroknit upper offers a sock-like fit with perforations in the toe area for additional airflow. The tongue is made as a more elastic knit construction that moulds to the foot. Different knit densities in different zones create a balance between flexibility and support. Price: 299,90 Euro >> available here.

Closure and foot stability

Two micro-adjustable BOA-Li2-A twist fasteners enable quick adjustments. Fabric guides distribute tension evenly and reduce pressure points. The Tarsal Support System keeps the foot in position for a smoother pedalling movement. The integrated anti-slip heel cap with gel print prevents movement in the shoe and is designed to improve power transmission.

Insole and sole

The anatomical insole offers increased support in the heel and tarsal area. Perforations in the insole are aligned with the sole's ventilation channels and create air circulation. The quick-drying material prevents damp feet. The EPS Light Weight Full Carbon Sole 10.0 uses an ultra-thin carbon construction that positions the foot closer to the pedal. Two channels in the sole serve as ventilation during the ride. Non-slip rubber inserts at the front and rear provide grip when walking, and the rear insert is replaceable. The sole works with all common clipless pedal systems.
