With the Proxy Black Mamba, Fizik is launching an off-road racing shoe aimed at competitive riders. The colour scheme is inspired by the Black Mamba Development Squad. The shoe is designed for training and racing on unpaved roads and challenging terrain.
The upper is made from translucent, PU-laminated mesh. This construction is designed to provide ventilation and quick-drying properties. According to the manufacturer, the tear-resistant construction ensures the material is durable. The mesh fabric promises protection against wear and tear caused by aggressive riding on rough terrain.
The Proxy Black Mamba uses the Li2 BOA Dial A Fit system as its fastening mechanism. Textile BOA cable guides are designed to distribute tension evenly and reduce pressure points. The bidirectional system allows for finely graduated adjustment of the fit. The minimalist fastening design promises a reliable hold. The shoe is designed with a regular fit and allows the cleat position to be adjusted.
The X3 nylon outsole features carbon reinforcement. Fizik states that the sole stiffness is 8. The rubber tread is designed to provide grip on the pedals and traction during running sections in cyclocross. The sole is designed for off-road clip-in systems. According to the manufacturer, the design offers efficient power transfer.
The Proxy Black Mamba is designed for gravel, cross-country and cyclo-cross. The shoe is intended to be suitable for explosive starts in cyclo-cross, technical cross-country trails and fast gravel races. Sizes range from 36 to 48, with sizes 37 to 47 also available in half sizes. The colourway is neon green and black.
