FREERIDE and BIKE editor Laurin Lehner presents his top 3 Christmas presents from 30 to 100 euros. However, none of them really have anything to do with mountain biking. This is his selection.

I don't know about you, but the item "getting Christmas presents" is only on my to-do list from the end of November and is then transferred to the next to-do list every week without being done. But with eight nephews and nieces and lots of siblings, it really isn't that easy. Due to the mammoth task, we are now doing things differently in the family and donating money - Each person believes in one thing that they think is right. This has two advantages: 1. it's somehow more right and 2. you don't accumulate any more stuff. Of course, the children are exempt from this and still want presents. So the gift problem is not completely off the table. However, my motto here is: it's better to give something cool every year rather than some rubbish every year. So these are my top 3 gifts for mountain bikers:

Gift up to 100 euros: Pull-up bar

One Pull-up bar every household needs. The mobile ones for the door frame are quite nice, but not very stylish. That's why one that is attached to the wall is a good gift. The disadvantage is that you have to drill holes in the wall. But once it is mounted, there are no more excuses. The Snake pull-up bar pull-up bar from the South Tyrolean family business Kraxl-Board, which can be mounted above the door, for example. Important: There must be enough space to the ceiling so that you can reach over the bar with your chin when pulling up (correct design!) The pull-up bar from Kraxel-Board is made of multi-layer beech plywood, which is sanded by hand to ensure a good grip. You won't disappoint anyone with this gift. If you want to give the recipient an extra treat, why not mount the power bar right away?

Gift up to 60 euros: Knife

Do you need that? Probably not. Do you want it? Definitely! So you're pretty sure to land a hit with this gift. I think knives are like socks: You can never have enough of them. There are nice antidotes to the superstition that giving a knife as a gift could bring bad luck. A Folding knife with 440C steel blade and aluminium handle helps when slicing cheese, gutting fish or slicing branches.

Gift up to 30 euros: Allen tool

You all know that one person who messes around with the mini-tool at home and bruises the heel of their hand when they try to unscrew the pedal because the levers are too short. This is exactly the person you are giving an original Allen set - This makes things so much easier and is easy on the wallet. If the recipient already has enough tools, an extra tool set is also ideal as an on-board tool for the boot. Either way: a must-have!

What was the last gift that brought you joy? Marshall Bluetooth headphones.

And what didn't give you any pleasure at all? My brother-in-law gave me an 80 euro voucher from Jochen Schweizer. It was actually great because I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. Unfortunately, I lost it and haven't found it again to this day - annoying!

Best gift you've ever given? Probably my KTM LC4 to my mate Dennis (but without TÜV).

Worst gift you've ever given? A dress that I never saw again. I guess I didn't like it.

Which gifts don't work at all? Books are risky, clothes are problematic. And vouchers are also difficult. Most of them are never redeemed. Whether commercial or homemade.

Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
