Eye jewellery: 5 trail goggles put to the test
Protection against sun, dirt and branches - that's what bike goggles should actually be able to do. FREERIDE checked out five nose bikes on the trail.

Bike goggles are the firewall against dirt, stones, branches, rain and dangerous UV light. And of course they have to look sexy. This is how the goggles proved themselves in practice:

1st OAKLEY "Prizm Trail Jawbreaker"

The futuristic-looking Oakley is full of features. Levers are hidden everywhere to change lenses or alter the temple length. However, the main feature is the lenses. They are enormously contrast-enhancing and make the colours light up impressively. The field of vision, fit and wind protection are exemplary.

ConclusionGreat glasses with sophisticated features. Super: the lenses.

2 SHRED "Provocator Noweight"

The Provocator from the young US label Shred fits snugly and non-slip on the face. The lightweight design is barely noticeable and combines a casual look with high wind protection. Good: the large field of vision. The tint is too dark on cloudy days. Unfortunately, the lenses cannot be swapped - this results in a point deduction.

ConclusionLightweight glasses with high wearing comfort without a lot of fuss.

3 ADIDAS "Evil Eye Evo Pro L"

The Adidas shines with a great fit and high wearing comfort. A removable forehead pad prevents sweat from running into the eyes. The lenses can be changed in a few simple steps. Super: the field of vision! The lenses (LSD H) provide rich colours, but can't keep up with the super contrast of the Oakley.

ConclusionGreat glasses with a super field of vision and a very good fit.

4th POC "Crave"

Until now, we didn't have the helmet and protector company from Sweden on our radar as a sports eyewear manufacturer. The new Crave is the lightest goggle in the test. The lenses can also be replaced here. The brown-coloured lenses supplied darken considerably. We found them too dark in the forest. The nose piece is cut quite slim; nothing for thick noses. They are not as comfortable to wear as Oakley, Adidas or Shred.

ConclusionSimple but elegant glasses with a strong tint.

5. 100 % "Speedcraft SL"

The Speedcraft SL focuses on 90s retro style. The STD version is significantly larger. Thanks to the frameless lower edge, we liked the wide field of vision; nothing gets in the way. The interchangeable lenses darken pleasantly. A light-coloured lens is supplied for bad weather. The angular glasses sit firmly and comfortably on the face, but the nose bridge is very narrow. So check carefully whether your nose fits in.

Conclusion: Good glasses with exceptional optics.

* Several test persons checked the glasses for fit, tinting and wearing comfort, but the fit is very dependent on the shape of the head. So be sure to try them out for yourself. All models are available in different colour combinations.
