Shimano is expanding its still manageable portfolio of cycling glasses with 3 models with a modern shape: The Shimano Technium (L) and Twinspark sports glasses are large and angular. The lens technology is designed to improve colours and surface contours when cycling.

Shimano has developed a new lens technology called "Ridescape" for its cycling glasses. This technology offers five different lens options suitable for different riding conditions. The manufacturer claims that this technology improves visibility on sunny days on the road, changing light conditions on singletrack trails or during an evening gravel ride by letting just the right amount of light through. This makes the impression clearer, more intense and more vivid.

Shimano Technium - angular cycling glasses with full frame

The latest models among the already not so numerous Shimano cycling glasses are called Technium and have a modern, angular full frame. The ventilation openings integrated into the top and bottom of the lenses minimise fogging and ensure clear vision. The nose pad can be reversed to allow for customisation. The soft, rounded temples ensure that the goggles do not move around on the nose or cause pressure, even on uneven terrain.

The Technium goggles offer three different Ridescape lens options: RD for road bike rides, OR for mountain bike tours and GR for gravel rides. In addition, each pair of glasses comes with a clear interchangeable lens for low light conditions. Shimano emphasises that the frame is made from 45 percent bio-based materials to reduce CO2 emissions during production.

New Shimano Technium L half-frame cycling glasses

The Shimano Technium L goggle model has a half frame to make it even lighter. According to the manufacturer, it weighs 26 grams and offers both protection and comfort - with an additional casual look. The wide, one-piece lens is available in the same three Ridescape lenses as the full-frame model (RD, OR or GR). There is also a version with a self-tinting (photochromatic) grey lens. This automatically adapts to the light conditions and does not need to be replaced when the light changes. In dark surroundings, the lens is almost clear, while in bright light it takes on a darker colour.

Shimano Twinspark cycling glasses as an affordable all-rounder

Shimano calls the new Twinspark model an inexpensive all-round frame that is particularly suitable for road sports. The half-frame goggles are equipped with a Ridescape lens, which is said to offer high contrast. According to the manufacturer, it filters out bright light in particular, which is reflected by the tarmac, and improves the visibility of surface details. Shimano also emphasises that the HC lens is scratch-resistant and, like the other Ridescape lenses, water-repellent. The cycling glasses are also said to be free from plasticisers in the plastic.
