The Danish brand Pas Normal Studios is expanding its Mechanism range with a Pro version designed for racing. The collection is aimed at riders who value a race-fit and technical materials.
The Mechanism Pro Jersey uses three different stretch fabrics developed specifically for Pas Normal Studios. The upper body is made from 77 per cent polyamide and 23 per cent elastane, whilst the lower section is made from 73 per cent polyamide, 26 per cent elastane and 1 per cent polyester. Mesh inserts on the front, back and sleeves are made from 74 per cent polyamide and 26 per cent elastane. The laser-cut sleeves do not require a silicone hem; instead, the grip is woven directly into the fabric. The collar is minimal to prevent chafing. Features include a YKK zip, three back pockets and an integrated waistband gripper.
The Mechanism Pro Bib Shorts feature a structured fabric with zones of variable 4D stretch. The main fabric is made from 64 per cent polyamide, 35 per cent elastane and 1 per cent polyester, whilst the crotch area is made from 70 per cent polyamide and 30 per cent elastane. The leg cuffs also do away with silicone grippers; the grip is provided by the fabric itself. The four-layer seat pad, made from ultra-light foam, is designed for an aerodynamic riding position. A pocket for radio equipment is integrated into the back mesh.
The long-sleeved jersey is made from Schoeller fabric featuring coldblack technology and offers UPF 30 protection. It is composed of 75 per cent polyamide and 25 per cent elastane. The YKK zip has flaps at the top and bottom to prevent skin irritation. In addition to three back pockets, there is an extra zipped pocket for valuables. The fabric is Bluesign certified.
According to the manufacturer, this sleeveless undershirt stretches to accommodate even when you’re bent over at a sharp angle. The fabric, made from 65 per cent polyamide and 35 per cent elastane, is knitted in Italy and is designed to wick moisture away quickly. The deep-cut collar remains hidden beneath the jersey.
The Mechanism Pro Zipless Jersey does away with a zip and embraces minimalism. The fabric composition is the same as the base layer, comprising 65 per cent polyamide and 35 per cent elastane. It features three rear pockets. Pas Normal Studios points out that this jersey offers no sun protection and recommends applying sun cream around 30 minutes before putting it on.
The Speedsuit combines the design of bib shorts and a jersey in a single garment. The upper body is made from a 77/23 polyamide-elastane blend, whilst the sleeves use a 74/26 blend. The leg section uses the 64/35/1 material, whilst the crotch area uses the 70/30 fabric. In addition to the radio pocket at the back, there is a cable guide at the front. The four-layer chamois is the same as that used in the bib shorts.
The PAS Race Socks are made from Q-Skin yarn and are specifically shaped for the right and left feet. The L-shape is designed to reduce excess fabric inside the shoe. An arch support keeps the socks in place. The PAS logo is knitted into the side. The piqué texture enhances breathability. The material consists of 94 per cent polyamide and six per cent elastane.
The Tucker III 2Vi Mips Helmet is manufactured by Sweet Protection and utilises the 2Vi Technology Platform with the MIPS Air Node Safety System. The 360 Occigrip Fit System allows for height and width adjustments whilst riding. Integrated goggle holders are compatible with Sweet Protection goggles, and Snap-On Aerocovers cover the holders. The ventilation system is internal, and the 4-shell construction is reinforced by Impact Shields at the front and rear. According to the manufacturer, rounded ventilation openings are designed to reduce air turbulence.
The fabrics for the jersey, bib shorts, long-sleeved jersey and speedsuit are sourced from Italy, and the garments are manufactured in Portugal. The base layer and sleeveless jersey are produced in Lithuania, after the fabrics have been knitted in Italy. The socks are made in Portugal.
