Simple, functional and clearly designed for performance - the Rose M Bib Shorts don't want to dazzle, they want to deliver. These are the kind of shorts that count in everyday life: inconspicuous to put on, convincing in the saddle. We wanted to know how well the model from Bocholt masters the balancing act between comfort, fit and value for money.

Topics in this article

With the M Bib Shorts, Rose is launching a classically designed bib short aimed at sporty touring riders. The focus is on a clean fit, reliable comfort and understated, functional features - ideal for regular off-road use and gravel sections.

Fit & material

The bib fits close to the body without compressing excessively - a noticeably comfortable mix of support and freedom of movement. The elasticated material adapts well to different body shapes and retains its shape even on longer tours.

The fabric quality is reminiscent of classic Lycra: robust enough for continuous use, yet breathable and quick-drying. The climate under the trousers remains pleasantly balanced, especially when the load changes - uphill, downhill, change of pace.

The straps are minimalist, elasticated and lie flat. They distribute the pressure evenly over the shoulders and keep the trousers reliably in position - even in a low, sporty sitting position.

It is noticeable that the Rose's trouser legs are cut particularly long and reach just above the kneecap - you have to like that. The trousers also close at the waist. M Bib Shorts very high. You feel well wrapped up and the trousers give the body good support.

Seat cushion & comfort

At the centre is a functional seat pad, designed for medium to long distances. It offers sufficient cushioning in the sit bone area without being bulky. The transitions are cleanly worked, which prevents chafing - a detail that you usually only really appreciate after two hours in the saddle.

In practice, this results in a pleasantly direct contact with the saddle, paired with sufficient comfort reserves for longer tours. For extreme long distances or uncompromising racing, there are more specialised options - but in the classic touring and training sector, Rose pretty much hits the mark here.

Rose M Bib Shorts - Rating & Conclusion

BIKE NOTE1,9

The Rose trousers stand out in the test with their strikingly long legs, which reach just above the kneecap - this is clearly a matter of taste, both visually and functionally. On the body, they are just as compact as the Gonso model: the box fits tightly and is cut unusually high, it extends well above the navel and thus ensures a very enveloping feel.

The support system is particularly impressive when riding. The elasticated straps lie flat against the skin, fit snugly and do not cut in unpleasantly. Practical and modern at the same time: the small cargo pocket, which gives the model additional utility value.

The padding is where the trousers really come into their own. It has a high-quality feel, is neatly segmented and is positioned precisely under the sit bones. It also offers plenty of coverage in the front area. In combination with the high fit, the result is a very stable and secure fit overall.

All in all, the Rose trousers are particularly recommended for riders who prefer long legs and a high-cut waistband - and who attach particular importance to a well thought-out, comfortable pad.
