The EKOI Perf Gel Power is designed as a high-quality bib short for use in intensive training and competition. Thanks to their women's-specific cut and the anatomically adapted power gel seat pad, the shorts are designed to offer a high level of comfort even on longer rides.
A key feature is the practical back opening with zip, which makes it easier to take quick breaks without having to remove the bibs or jersey - a particularly helpful detail for long rides.
The bi-elastic, soft material is designed to optimally adapt to your movements when pedalling and, in combination with high breathability, ensures a pleasant body climate. Moisture is reliably wicked away, while mesh inserts in the back and stomach area provide additional ventilation.
Laser-cut leg cuffs with silicone grippers to prevent slipping ensure a secure hold and a clean fit. The seamless, elasticated straps also offer a good balance of stability and freedom of movement.
Another highlight is the integrated UV protection (UPF 50+), which protects the wearer from intense sunlight in summer conditions.

The trousers have a surprisingly balanced fit right from the start: they enclose the stomach comfortably without constricting, the straps are comfortable and the padding is also convincing with its harmonious positioning and good comfort. The low-cut waistband at the back makes the otherwise somewhat scratchy zip practically superfluous. With the right technique, the trousers can even be pulled down closed: Hook your thumbs into the straps at the back and pull the trousers down over your buttocks when squatting down - works surprisingly well in the test.
But then the downside: at least in the sand colour version, the trousers are not very opaque. In the mirror, the sewn-in label was almost legible through the fabric - a clear no-go. At least the problem seems to be colour-specific, darker versions are much less critical. Our conclusion is therefore divided: Comfort, fit and handling are good - if the manufacturer were to use double-layer fabric in the back instead of a zip and get a grip on the transparency, the overall package would be close to perfection.
