Cyclite states that their bikepacking setup with wedge-shaped fork bags only requires 190 watts of power at 33 km/h - compared to 229 watts with round fork bags. Over 100 kilometres, this should result in a time saving of more than four minutes compared to the setup without bags and even around eleven minutes compared to round models. The fork bags can be mounted either via a screw thread or via a thru axle with 1-click system, which enables quick and stable attachment to the bike.

Cyclite has the Fork Bag / 01 developed to reduce the air resistance of fork pockets. The narrow, wedge-shaped form differs significantly from standard round models. The bag holds 3.1 litres and weighs 224 grams. A weatherproof zip protects the contents and a mesh pocket allows quick access. Large reflectors increase visibility. It can be mounted on the fork's existing screw threads or using a thru axle for forks without threads. The 1-click system allows quick attachment and detachment.

Aerotune test

Cyclite tested the Fork Bag / 01 according to the Aerotune protocol. The reference setup without fork bags achieved a system CdA of 32 dm². With classic round bags, the value rose to 37 dm². The Cyclite Fork Bag / 01 lowered the CdA to 29 dm². The CdA describes the total aerodynamic surface area - a smaller value means less power requirement at the same speed.

Performance data and time savings

At 33 kilometres per hour, the setup with the Fork Bag / 01 According to the manufacturer's measurements, the Cyclite bag only consumes 190 watts, compared to 229 watts for standard round fork bags - a difference of 39 watts. Even compared to the setup without bags, the Cyclite bag saves around 15 watts. On a one hundred kilometre circuit with 780 metres of elevation gain and 200 watts of average power, this results in a calculated time advantage of 4 minutes 23 seconds compared to the setup without panniers. Compared to round bags, the advantage is almost 11 minutes. The wedge-shaped bag redirects the airflow in such a way that a calmer flow area is created in the area of the fork, front wheel and legs. Less turbulent air at the pedalling legs reduces the overall resistance of the system.
