Supernova has already been doing the groundwork for several years: For example, the company has been using green electricity for many years and logistics movements have been CO2 neutral since 2014. The company's gas heating is fuelled by environmentally friendly hydrogen. There are also electric company vehicles and the option of a Bike leasing via a job bike for all employees. The Breisgau-based company has set itself the target of offsetting all emissions caused by the company by 2024.
But aspects such as durability and reparability are also characteristics that have always been included in the products, and the cables are also PVC-free.
The new ISO certification gives Supernova a formally recognised basis for this long-standing commitment, on which the company's further environmental protection activities can build. CEO Marcus Wallmeyer comments: "We are very proud of this first formal step and look forward to further progress. If we can inspire others to make a commitment to the environment, we will be all the more pleased."
Companies that are accredited in accordance with the international ISO 14001 standard are recognised as environmentally sustainable and are committed to introducing an environmental management system in their operations. The ISO 14001 series of standards stipulates that environmental objectives are defined and responsibilities are introduced. A major focus is on ensuring that the company takes appropriate measures and regularly reviews their effectiveness. "In this way, we not only want to maintain our sustainability, but also continuously improve it," explains Gregor Arndt, Supernova's Environmental Officer.
At the beginning of the year, MYBIKE Headlights and tail lights tested. The Supernova M99 DY Pro bike light from the bicycle and e-bike lighting manufacturer from Gundelfingen was included. We also asked Marcus Wallmeyer, owner of Supernova, three questions about the lights.
