In the Enduro World Series, the benchmark par excellence for modern enduro mountain bikes, more and more riders are opting for 29er wheels. If speed counts the most, there is hardly any way around the big wheels. So also YT Industries 2018 one 29-inch version of the Capra enduro bike ahead. For 2020, the Forchheim-based company wants to appeal to downhill-orientated enduro bikers in particular with a limited edition.
As the name suggests, the Capra LTD 29 comes exclusively with 29-inch tyres. The mail-order company mounts the aluminium frame with a 170 mm Fox 36 Factory suspension fork, flattening the head angle to 65 or 65.5 degrees depending on the flip-chip position. The Fox DHX2 steel spring shock works at the rear.
As with other YT models, the old Shimano XTR 11-speed drivetrain changes gears. However, in combination with the E-Thirteen cassette (11 sprockets, 9-46 teeth), the drivetrain provides the same range as the new Shimano XTR with twelve gears. The Sram Code with 200 mm discs front and rear provides sufficient braking power.
For optimum durability, the LTD is completely carbon-free, which is a rarity in higher price ranges these days. However, this is also reflected in the weight: YT specifies 14.9 kilograms for frame size M without pedals. This makes long climbs a feat of strength. The bike can be ordered in sizes M to XXL for 3599 euros - but with only 200 available in Europe, you should act quickly if you are interested.
