In the world of gravity-orientated mountain bikes without a motor, YT is a big fish that has already scooped up many test wins with its functional enduro and DH bikes. It is therefore only logical that the brand's first e-bike is positioned in the mountain-orientated enduro segment. Visually, it is fully in line with the brand's massively aggressive line. The company's own rear suspension kinematics of the motorless four-bar linkage have also been transferred 1:1. The full carbon frame houses the Shimano Steps E8000 and a self-developed, robust battery with 540 watt hours.
The Decoy is a real feel-good bike from the very first moment. The riding position is balanced and nicely centred. With its fat 2.8 mm rear tyre and the very sensitive suspension at the rear, the bike pedals purposefully and well uphill. Rearing tendencies come late and are easy to control. Similar to the Rotwild, the steering lock limiter is a little annoying in hairpin bends. The E7000 shifter, which looks elegant but is completely unergonomic, is also annoying. Apart from this faux pas, however, the YT looks as if it has been cast from a single mould. This is especially true when it goes downhill. Then the Decoy develops this rarely encountered, ideal combination of pleasant smoothness and maximum playfulness. You feel safe, even when the terrain is extremely exposed and steep. The suspension simply soaks up even big bumps. And yet the bike is extremely agile, very close to a motorless enduro bike, jumps well and even goes easily onto the rear wheel. Across the board, the YT was the favourite of all testers, with nothing to complain about in terms of riding technique.
Perfect chassis, ideal handling and good price. The YT Decoy rightly takes the test victory in this prestigious category from a standing start. A perfect E-Enduro apart from the small gear lever bug!
