The YT Industries Decoy redefined the limits of an E-Enduro, as our test in EMTB 4/19 recently showed. Test winner! Now the developers at the Forchheim-based mail order company are following up with an all-mountain version. With the Decoy 29, YT wants to have created the jack of all trades. An e-mountainbike that can climb, but doesn't compromise on the downhill. Difference to the Original decoy: less suspension travel (150 millimetres instead of 170/165) and 29-inch wheels front and rear (instead of MX wheel mix). There will be two model variants. The more affordable Base 29 is available from a price of 4399 euros. For the top model Pro 29 with a full carbon frame, the direct mail order company is asking 5599 euros. The integrated removable battery provides 540 watt hours in both versions. For the drive, YT relies on the E8000 motor from Shimano in combination with the E7000 display.
In contrast to the Enduro, the Decoy 29 was trimmed for all-mountain use, but can also be fine-tuned. Thanks to the built-in flip chip, the steering and seat angle can be adjusted. This changes the bottom bracket height by 7 millimetres. The steering angle is a flat 65.5 or 66 degrees, depending on the bike. The seat angle is modernly steep at 77 or 77.5 degrees. This shifts the rider's centre of gravity forwards. This should benefit riders on steep climbs. The longer chainstays are also intended to improve the climbing characteristics and, with the 29-inch wheels, ensure a smooth ride even at high speeds. A ray of hope for tall and heavy riders too: YT sets a good example and offers its new Decoy 29 in five frame sizes: S, M, L, XL and XXL.
The Decoy 29 can now be ordered in two equipment variants on the direct mail order company's homepage. Typical YT: High-quality equipment at a fair price. The cheaper Decoy Base 29 features Rockshox suspension with a Yari RC fork and Deluxe Select shock. In the drivetrain, a Shimano drivetrain from the SLX range changes gears. The snappy Sram Code R paired with solid DT Swiss H 1900 Spline wheels round off the entry-level package.
The big brother Decoy Pro 29 is equipped with the new Fox 36 Float Performance Elite suspension fork modified for e-bike use. A Fox Float DPX2 Ferformance Elite ensures quietness at the rear. For an additional 1200 euros, the Decoy Pro also comes with a 12-speed drivetrain from the Shimano XT range, Sram Code RSC brakes with carbon levers and an E-Thirteen cockpit.
