When the YT Capra Carbon came onto the market in 2014, it hit the market like a bomb. For three and a half to four thousand euros, the Forchheim-based mail-order company offered a carbon enduro bike with first-class equipment, powerful suspension and stunning looks. No wonder that the "mountain goat" immediately captured the hearts of enduro riders.
"You can chase through exposed terrain like a small downhiller," we summarised in the Individual test of the YT Capra Carbon in June last year. The high-end version of the YT Capra scored a total of 128 points for a list price of 4000 euros, immediately catapulting it into the top league of enduro mountain bikes. From a standing start, the mail-order enduro bike was able to keep up with established scene giants such as the Santa Cruz Nomad, the Canyon Strive CF or the Scott Genius LT. What can you do against a competitor that is available for almost half the price, with almost no compromises?
The Capra will be even more affordable in 2016. In addition to the carbon model, the bike will also be available in a more affordable aluminium version next year. Three equipment variants are available, which can already be ordered now. The entry-level model comes with high-quality equipment and a Rock Shox Yari fork and costs 2299 euros, while the two more expensive models (Comp 1 and 2) are equipped with the new Rock Shox Lyrik and Pike respectively. They each cost 2799 euros, weigh around 14 kilograms and are therefore around 400 grams heavier than their carbon counterparts. The geometry remains largely unchanged compared to the carbon model.
Since the Capra Comp 1 has a Lyrik with 170 mm travel, which is slightly higher than the 160 mm forks in the other two models, the geometry changes a little. The head angle is 0.2 degrees slacker, the bottom bracket is 2.3 mm higher and the wheelbase is 2 mm longer.
You can already order the YT Capra AL on the Website from YT.
The Comp 2 version will be available from 27 January 2016, the Capra AL from 10 February 2016 and the Capra AL Comp 1 from 9 March.
