In 2021, the Transition Patrol not only got a brand new frame. It also grew from a pure 27.5 to a mullet bike with a large front wheel and 160 millimetres of suspension travel. Nevertheless, the enduro bike was only offered with a heavy aluminium frame. This is noticeable on climbs. Here, riders need strong calves. In frame size MD, the aluminium Patrol weighs between 15.5 and a proud 16.5 kilograms. The switch to carbon should now save a whole 1.2 kilograms.
Despite the new frame material, the Transition engineers want to retain the nature of the Patrol. The mullet construction, rear suspension kinematics and clever features, such as the size-specific chainstay length and the lifetime warranty on the frame, are carried over from the aluminium model. Good for maintenance, bad for looks: the externally routed brake line on the Transition Patrol is also retained on the carbon model. Like the aluminium model, the Enduro frame has a flip chip and is even approved for double bridge forks.
The carbon patrol will be available in the colours Bonfire Red and Moonshadow, a kind of anthracite. Unlike the aluminium model, there is initially only one equipment variant to buy in addition to the frameset. The Transition Patrol is equipped with Fox Performance Elite Chassis, Srams GX-rear derailleur and TRP DH-R Evo brakes and is expected to cost 6899 euros. The Patrol will initially only be available as a frameset from autumn, with further equipment variants to follow in 2023. In addition to the lifetime warranty, Transition offers a crash replacement should the frame be severely damaged in a fall. With a 480 millimetre reach in frame size LG and a steering angle of 63 degrees, the Patrol should deliver fun and safety on the downhill. The chainstay length increases by six millimetres from frame size MD to LG. With a steep effective seat angle of up to 78.1 degrees in frame size LG, the Patrol should also feel comfortable on the climbs.
