With the Genius LT 700, Scott combines opulent suspension travel with 2.8 inch wide plus tyres for the first time. A sober look at the weight table puts the wheels at the back of the pack despite the rather thin Schwalbe Nobby Nic tyres. The same applies to the total weight. For the plus bike, the scales only stop at 13.4 kilos, which means that the Scott rides a little more sedately due to the long chainstays. And downhill? Thanks to the long wheelbase and the long suspension travel, the LT shows real descending qualities despite the simple shock without a reservoir. Even in rough rock gardens, the wide tyre concept offers amazing comfort and control. However, the precise line choice suffers under the 2.8 tyres. At really high speeds and accelerations, the thin carcasses of the tyres reach their limit and work too hard. Thanks to the variable suspension with Twinloc lever, the suspension can be simultaneously tightened or locked. In terms of price, the LT is at the top of this test field.
ConclusionDespite a slight weight deficit, the Plus concept works in many respects and is recommended as an alternative.
The alternative: The Genius LT 710 Plus costs 5399 euros and comes with a more favourable Fox suspension. Entry into the Plus world starts at 4199 euros for the Genius LT. Only available in three frame sizes.
