The pictures of the Rocky Mountain team riders, who favour this bike wherever a light, stable full suspension is required, repeatedly show what the "Slayer" can do. Backflips and similar manoeuvres are jumped on the "Slayer" at many a slopestyle contest. This definitely shows how robust this bike must be. But the "Slayer" is not only fun in the air. The bike loves fast downhills and drops, the steeper the better. The geometry proves to be extremely good-natured and the handling is excellent. And: the suspension scores with enormous agility. On moderately steep singletrails, where you have to pedal from time to time, the degressively articulated rear suspension sags uncomfortably. Fine tuning of the shock is required here. This needs to be ridden in moderate terrain with relatively high air pressure and progression. The same goes for the fork, which should be run in for a few kilometres before it can work softly. Rocky Mountain has made the right choice when it comes to equipment, both visually and functionally. Only the choice of tyres should be reconsidered: Continental's "Mountain King" is a very good marathon or all-mountain tyre; it is not aggressive enough for an enduro bike.
CONCLUSIONThe "Slayer" is a noble, stable classic for tough enduro use.
TUNING TIP: Fit larger tyres.
