Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay in the EMTB test
The Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay offers great riding fun on trails, but it's not the best choice for big E-MTB tours. Our test explains why.

With its unconventional proprietary drive system, Rocky Mountain played a pioneering role in the new generation of trail bikes last year. And in year two, the Canadians can still hold their own at the top. At least in terms of agility, trail bike feeling and riding fun. No other bike corners as easily as the Rocky Mountain Altitude PowerplayWhen it comes to bunny hopping, only the Pivot Shuttle can keep up. The suspension is also brilliant, and you can expect top equipment for the price anyway. The drivetrain doesn't cause any problems, it's powerful and easy to modulate. What's more, with its built-in 632 Wh battery, the Rocky rides higher than all the others. Nevertheless, extra-long tours are not the métier of this bike. If the battery is empty, it has to be plugged in - there's no way to change the battery. Uphill, the front climbs earlier than some other bikes due to the very short stays, which takes some getting used to. Although the motor is very quiet, it runs a little harshly and the windy plastic switch for the support levels is annoying.

Test summary of the Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay:

Unbeatable in terms of agility and riding fun on trails, but not a good choice for the big E-MTB tour.
