Radon: New e-hardtail integrates Bosch Powertube battery
Radon's new Jealous AL Hybrid hardtail also relies on the combination of the 4th generation Bosch Performance CX and 625 Powertube battery, which is fully integrated into the new aluminium frame.

The Radon Jealous AL Hybrid 29 opens the next chapter in the E-MTB range of the mail-order company based in Grafschaft, Rhineland-Palatinate. It's amazing how much has changed since Radon presented the brand's first sporty e-hardtail, the ZR Race 29 Hybrid, at Eurobike 2014. Keyword design. On the other hand, the price of 2699 euros in the basic configuration, for example, is still astonishing, even in mid-2020. And even today, the name of the newly developed sporty e-hardtail from Radon is again derived from the latest race bike without a motor, with the decisive addition of "Hybrid".

There will be two models of the Radon Jealous AL Hybrid 29. Both come with the proven combination of a powerful Bosch Performance CX motor with a 625 Powertube battery. The latter is fully integrated into the down tube of the hydro-formed aluminium frame with internally routed cables. This means that Radon has largely done away with the piggyback look of the add-on battery in the high-quality E-MTB sector. Only the basic Radon ZR Team Hybrid hardtail continues to run with the external Bosch battery and a few horsepower less.

The geometry of the Radon Jealous Hybrid 2020

The Radon Jealous AL Hybrid is characterised by a modern, balanced trail geometry with a not-too-short main frame, relatively steep seat angle and rather slack head angle. The reach between 406 millimetres (size S) and 458 millimetres (size L) is no longer compact, but by no means too long. At 460 millimetres, the chainstay length is still in the middle of the range. The ample tyre clearance for tyres up to 2.6 inches wide is good.

The Radon Jealous AL Hybrid 8.0 for € 2699 does without the telescopic seatpost and rolls on stylish, but slightly lower quality tyres than the 300 more expensive model. Its Shimano Deore drivetrain with 11 gears (11-51 teeth) provides a few per cent more gear range than the Sram NX Eagle drivetrain on the 9.0 model.Photo: Radon The Radon Jealous AL Hybrid 8.0 for € 2699 does without the telescopic seatpost and rolls on stylish, but slightly lower quality tyres than the 300 more expensive model. Sebastian Brust was born in 1979 and was originally socialised on his grandmother's folding bike, but has mainly been riding studded tyres since his fifth birthday. Loves all kinds of bikes - and merging with nature. Believes that disc brakes are much safer today than they were 15 years ago and thinks he has helped with his brake and pad tests. However, the trained vehicle technology engineer very much regrets that the bicycle industry is orientating itself on what he considers to be the wrong ideals of the car industry. At BIKE, he corrects, produces and organises digital content on the website.
