Propain has redesigned its Spindrift freeride bike for 2017 and wants to combine the familiar downhill performance with better climbing characteristics. To achieve this, the aluminium frame has been slimmed down and the geometry and equipment have been adapted. The suspension travel remains the same at 180 millimetres at the front and rear. According to Propain, the aim was to develop a bike for maximum riding fun with the necessary reserves.
With these changes, the geometry of the Propain Spindrift has been modernised: steeper seat angle for climbing, longer reach (465 mm in L) and slacker head angle (64.5 degrees) for bolting. But the tried-and-tested features have been retained, so at first glance the new Spindrift looks just like the old one. Propain continues to rely on the PRO10 rear triangle, which was already tested in FREERIDE 1/15 its qualities could prove.
Another selling point for many bikers is likely to be the strong Price-performance ratio be. As is typical for mail-order bikes, all models come with very high-quality equipment. Even the equipment of the entry-level "Comp" model for 2399 euros is impressive: Rock Shox Yari Solo Air fork, Rock Shox Super Deluxe RC3 Plus shock and Sram Guide R brakes. The top-of-the-range "Race" model for 3999 euros is equipped with the crème de la crème of MTB components: brand new Sram Eagle X01 groupset with 1x12 drivetrain, Magura MT7 stoppers and a classy chassis with Fox Float 36 Factory and Cane Creek Double Barrel Air offer a lot for a small price tag.
Availability
The final versions of the Propain Spindrift will be shown at Eurobike 2016 at the beginning of September and will then be available from the German distributor.
