Prodigy: Simplon Rapcon XC12 on test
The Simplon Rapcon is one of the newcomers in the enduro segment. For 2022, the Austrians are upgrading with the Rapcon enduro MTB, which is also available as a trail bike version. We have tested it.

Similar to Orbea, Propain or Last, you can put together your Simplon bike using an online configurator. Our test bike relies on the high-quality Ultimate suspension from Rockshox. The look is simple: matt grey frame, black lettering - boring or discreet? That's for everyone to decide. As with the design, no experiments were made with the geometry. Apart from the chainstays, which grow with the frame size, and the steep seat angle, nothing stands out. However, the details are clever, such as the storage compartment or the special stem for cable routing. On the trail, the Rapcon remains true to its attributes: it works unemotionally well. Bends, bumpy sections - the enduro mountain bike doesn't get rattled and is extremely easy to control on the trail. The high BB drop and high front end position the rider low on the bike. The Rockshox suspension works well. You can also play around thanks to sufficient pop. On tour, the bike is one of the best due to its low weight and geo.

Conclusion on the Simplon Rapcon XC12:

The surprise in the test: The Simplon Rapcon is the ideal all-round enduro bike. The bike can do everything very well, even if nothing brilliantly. Well done!

Christian Textor, celebrity tester: "We testers had the least to say about the bike. The bike simply works. The other side of the coin: the bike lacks a bit of character." Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
