The bike doesn't break new ground in terms of travel or wheel size, true to the motto: not new is better, but better is better. So the Californian brand's latest model also rolls on 27.5-inch wheels and offers a plush 170 millimetres of travel on the fork and rear triangle. However, the new Nomad does have a few changes in store: the geometry has been refined as part of the renovation. At 64 degrees, the steering angle is one degree slacker and the seat angle is even 3.5 degrees steeper at 78 degrees. As a result, the rider is positioned far forward and very upright. The chainstay length now also grows with the frame size. In size L, the rear triangle measures 435 millimetres, while the reach is 472 to 475 millimetres. Another new feature is the switch to the universal Sram UDH derailleur hanger.
In addition to four different frame sizes, four equipment variants are also available. Starting at 4799 euros for the Nomad C R. The top model costs a modest 8999 euros by Santa Cruz standards. The frame kit alone changes hands for 3499 euros. In addition, the customer can choose between models with steel spring or air shock absorbers, and the tyres are also adapted for the respective use.
All Nomad models come exclusively in carbon, but in two grades, similar to the other Santa Cruz models. The frame weights should differ by around 300 grams. In addition to the discreet and elegant Oxblood paint finish, in which the carbon fibre mats shine through, there is also a brighter green version with pink lettering. And if something gets really out of hand during use, Santa Cruz still offers a lifetime guarantee on the frame and bearings.
