It was only a matter of time before the longtravel version of the Genius with the new 650B or 27.5" wheel size was unleashed on the trails. Scott also presented the new 27.5-inch Spark, based on the same platform. Scott will only be offering 26-inch wheels for 2014 in the dirt and gravity segment.

Simply adjusting the wheel size would have been a little too easy to give the existing Genius LT a new shine. However, the larger 650B wheels are only a small part of the LT's elaborate new design.
Visually, the close relationship to the Spark and normal Genius with 150 millimetres is already striking. The background to the common platform of the three models is the harmonisation of the standards used. All bearings are identical, a Pressfit 92 bottom bracket is used, the front derailleur mount is identical, all bikes have a 31.6 millimetre seat post and come with a 12 millimetre thru-axle on the rear wheel. Ideal for a reliable supply of spare parts.

The highlights of the new Genius LT:
In contrast to the previous model, the new LT has larger wheels, but slightly less suspension travel. 170 millimetres are available at the front and rear of the new model, which will be available in three versions. To keep the weight down, Scott has opted for a Fox 34 Float, which has been increased by ten millimetres. According to Fox and tests with DH team rider Brendan Fairclough, stability and stiffness for enduro use should not cause any problems. An absolute novelty for Scott is the collaboration with Fox in terms of shocks. In future, the Spark, Genius and Genius LT will all be equipped with Fox instead of DT Swiss shocks. The new Fox Nude Shock has the familiar three-way adjustment via a Twinloc lever on the handlebars. In addition to the open mode for downhill riding, there is also a trail and climb mode. In trail mode, the air volume of the shock and the compression damping are changed at the same time. This reduces the SAG with firmer damping. The weight of just 12.4 kilos for the top model, which costs 6400 euros, is also an absolute record in this suspension travel class.

The new Spark 700:
In addition to the 29er Spark with 100 millimetres of suspension travel, there will only be the new 27.5" version with 120 millimetres in future. The extremely light bike will make marathon racers and sporty touring riders happy. Only 1900 grams for the frame including the Fox Nude shock set the bar pretty high. The complete bike doesn't even weigh 10.5 kilos. Despite this, the Spark 700 frame is said to be around 20 per cent stiffer than the Spark 900. The 433 mm chainstays and the adjustable steering angle from 68.8° to 68.3° ensure agile handling.
