At first glance, the new Specialized Enduro looks similar to the current model, but at second glance, the Enduro reveals its updates: there will still be two frames - one for 27.5-inch wheels and one for 29-inch wheels. However, in line with the trend towards wider tyres, the rear triangle offers significantly more space. Both 29x2.5 inch wide tyres and wide three-inch tyres in 27.5 Plus fit in the 29er rear triangle. The steering angle is flat as usual: The 650B model has a 65.5 degree steering angle, while the 29er has a super slack 66. The chainstays are also typically short for Specialized: 425 millimetres for the 27.5-inch Enduro, 432 millimetres for the 29er.
As with the current Enduro, Specialized also relies on an Öhlins shock for the new one. According to Specialized, the STX22 was tuned in close cooperation with the damping specialists. In addition to the air pressure, the pilot can also adjust the high and low-speed compression and low-speed rebound.
Specialized has also given the Enduro more suspension travel. The 27.5-inch version rolls into dealers with 170 millimetres of travel at the front and rear, while the 29er comes with a 160-millimetre fork and 165 millimetres of travel at the rear. The new Enduro should also be more durable than ever thanks to larger bearings and a bolted bottom bracket.
Specialized was not only a pioneer in the enduro movement, but also in backpack-less riding. That's why the new Enduro also comes - like the Stumpjumper and Camber - with SWAT boot. The hose and pump fit easily into this.
