With the TP4 and TP4-S, Italian manufacturer THOK E-Bikes is presenting two new models for its all-mountain programme. Both e-bikes are based on a frame made of unidirectional (UD) carbon and are intended to position themselves between the existing MIG all-mountain models and the TP4 (aluminium) and GRAM (carbon) enduro bikes. The geometry, design approach and technical orientation of the new models are shared with the TP4-R, which is already in the programme. According to THOK, the introduction of the two new variants is a reaction to the positive response to the TP4-R and TP4 Limited Edition models presented in October.
A key feature of the new e-bikes is the adjustable geometry using the flipchip system. This allows the steering angle, seat angle and bottom bracket height to be adapted to different riding styles and areas of use. In the "High" configuration with a seat angle of 79 degrees and a steering angle of 64.5 degrees, the bike is optimised for all-mountain use. The "Low" setting flattens the angle by half a degree and should therefore also be suitable for enduro trails. In combination with the suspension travel of 160 millimetres on the fork and 150 millimetres on the rear triangle, the TP4 and TP4-S are positioned between the all-mountain and enduro categories.
Both models rely on the Bosch Performance Line CX motor with a maximum torque of 100 Newton metres and peak power of up to 750 watts. The integrated, modular and removable battery has a capacity of 800 watt hours, but is also compatible with 600 or 400 watt hours. The e-bikes can also be equipped with the Bosch Powermore 250 Wh range extender, which can also be used individually for shorter tours.
According to the manufacturer, the higher-quality TP4-S is aimed at riders who value high performance and aggressive riding behaviour. It is equipped with a FOX 36 Float Performance suspension fork (160 millimetres), FOX Float X shock, Shimano XT 12-speed drivetrain and Magura MT5 4-piston brakes. The TP4, on the other hand, offers a robust and reliable setup with a focus on riding control and durability. It features a FOX 36 Float Rhythm suspension fork (160 millimetres), a FOX Float Rhythm shock, a Shimano SLX 12-speed drivetrain and Shimano Deore 4-piston brakes.
The unidirectional carbon frame enables optimised material distribution. The fibre concentration can be increased in areas subject to higher loads, while thinner layers are sufficient in less stressed areas. This should result in a resilient and lightweight structure that can also withstand intensive all-mountain use. Both versions feature a UDH derailleur hanger, the TPS-2 suspension system from THOK, brake callipers mounted directly on the frame without adapters and an integrated steering lockout limiter. The 29-inch wheels are pre-equipped for a mullet setup with a 27.5-inch rear wheel and fitted with Schwalbe Albert tyres.
THOK is offering the new TP4 and TP4-S models in four frame sizes (S, M, L, XL) and two colour variants (Forge Red, Dragon Green). The retail price for the TP4 is 5990 euros, the TP4-S costs 6990 euros. The TP4-R remains in the programme as the top model in the range for 7590 euros. The e-bikes are available online via the THOK website and from authorised THOK dealers.
