Moustache: Big wheels for the trail classic
Big forks, big wheels, small updates: French E-MTB specialist Moustache is equipping its range for tougher applications. The Samedi 29 Trail trail bike has undergone the most refinements.

The novelty is already in the name. The touring and trail classic Samedi 29 Trail from French E-MTB manufacturer Moustache no longer rolls on wide 27.5 plus rollers in 2021, but on large 29ers on the front and rear wheels. The trail and enduro bikes have also received a fork update and improvements to the details. Naturally, all bikes are supplied with the Bosch Performance CX update, i.e. with a whopping 85 Newton metres.

150 millimetres front and rear. This puts the Samedi 29 Trail in the category of "do it all" bikes, at least on paper. Comfort on long tours, pop and liveliness on flowing trails, reserves for demanding descents. The 2021 model probably has more of the latter than ever before. The large wheels improve the rollover behaviour and thus the smoothness and riding safety of the bike. In addition, the 2.5-width tyres should raise the steering precision to a new level compared to the wide 27.5 x 2.8-width tyres. The stiffer Fox 36 fork, which replaces the slimmer 34, has the same goal.

The previous model featured a slim Fox 34, which is not the first choice for heavy e-bikes on rough terrain. The bike is available in five versions, all with an aluminium frame, large 625 battery and Bosch Performance CX drive. It starts with the Samedi 29 Trail 2 for 4599 euros. The Samedi 29 Trail 8 for 5999 euros offers a strong price-performance ratio. It already has Fox 36 Factory suspension at the front. There is also a carbon handlebar and the precise 12-speed Shimano XT drivetrain and brakes from the same Shimano range.

The top model Samedi 29 Trail 10 forms the upper end of the range for 7399 euros, then with carbon wheels and XTR gears.

Moustache Samedi 29 Game

The Trail's big brother goes by the name of Game. Presumably because the enduro bike from the Moustache range still wants to play even in the toughest terrain. In contrast to the Samedi 29 Trail, the 2020 version of the bike already rolled on large wheels. The changes are therefore limited. Here, too, work has been done on fine-tuning the shock - in particular to perfectly match it to the new Fox 38. The fork is not only thicker and stiffer than the Fox 36, it also provides the Samedi 29 Game with one centimetre more travel. 170 millimetres at the front and 160 at the rear. The French see this as the sweet spot for their downhill flagship.

Visually, it looks very similar to its little brother. Inside are enduro genes: 170 millimetres of suspension travel on the fork, 160 on the rear triangle, plus 29er wheels.
