M1 Spitzing: New race pedelec as an enduro bike
Is this still a bike? 120 Nm torque, 850 watts peak power, 150 mm suspension travel, 75 km/h top speed. These are the key data of the M1 Spitzing.

Do you remember the Magma Red Hot? It's been 20 years since carbon specialist M1 launched the first mountain bike with a monocoque carbon frame. It looked like something from another planet back then and has not lost this effect to this day.

In a co-operation with TQ Systems, a company from Lake Ammersee that normally deals with aerospace, M1 has now developed a race pedelec that continues the tradition of the Magma Red Hot - at least as far as the carbon and the extreme look are concerned: 75 km/h top speed and 7.5 seconds in the sprint from 0-50 km/h should be possible with the M1 Spitzing.

This is thanks to an electric motor from TQ Systems, which weighs just 4.5 kilos and was specially designed for the Spitzing. The maximum output is 850 watts, and the maximum torque of 120 Newton metres should be available across almost the entire speed range. 150 mm of suspension travel provides the necessary traction for the E-Enduro.

The Spitzing will be unveiled at the Eurobike in Friedrichshafen at the end of August. As a race pedelec, however, it may only be used in e-bike races or on private property and is not road-legal. However, a road-legal version and an S-pedelec are being planned.

Adrian Kaether's favourite thing to do is ride mountain bikes on bumpy enduro trails. The tech expert and bike tester knows all about Newton metres and watt hours, high and low-speed damping. As test manager at MYBIKE, Adrian also likes to think outside the box and tests cargo bikes and step-through bikes as well as the latest (e-)MTBs.
