Pivot from Arizona brings the Firebird a new 27.5-inch enduro bike onto the market. With 170 millimetres of suspension travel and a carbon fibre chassis, the "Firebird" should be suitable for merciless bike park missions as well as racing. However, thanks to its low weight - well under 13 kilograms depending on the set-up - long uphills should not be a problem either.
To make this possible, Pivot has given the Firebird a slack 65 mm head angle. The reach has also been increased to 465 millimetres in size L. The 430 millimetre short chainstays should provide the necessary playfulness. This geometry should integrate the rider well into the bike. Only an extensive test can show whether this has been achieved. The Firebird will be available in four frame sizes: S to XL.
At the rear, a DW-Link controls the 170 millimetres of travel. Depending on the equipment variant, the highly variable Fox Float X2 or the more favourable Float X damps the shocks. At the front, the Firebird has a Fox 36 - either Factory or Performance - as a Boost version. Pivot also relies on the Boost standard at the rear. Tyres up to 2.5 inches wide should fit in the frame.
Actually a matter of course in this price range: internal cable routing. A Shimano Di2 battery can also be easily concealed in the frame. Another detail that should please Alpine bikers: the bike comes with a front derailleur mount, so that even 2x fans can get their money's worth.
There will be nine different models ranging from 4999 to 9899 US dollars. With all Firebird models, Pivot emphasises a balanced ratio of lightweight construction and durability. The models are available now and can also be ordered on the Eurobike 2016 be considered.
