Just like the Cannondale Jekyll or GT Force, the VHP 16 also has a high-pivot rear triangle. The aluminium frame is heavier than the carbon competition, but the overall weight is not. The Kavenz is in the green zone. Similar to the GT, the VHP 16 also requires familiarisation. "You sit on it rather than in it", is how the German Enduro Champion describes the feeling. Striking: The rear triangle provides a lot of counter-pressure, giving the bike a firm characteristic. On rough sections, the bike doesn't lose its composure so quickly, provided that the rider works and compensates for the rather insensitive rear end. Some testers described the steering behaviour as somewhat diffuse. In general, the bike wants to go straight ahead rather than turn. On climbs, the rear end is neutral. Good!
PLUS: Customised geometry
MINUS: heels rubbing on chainstay, response behaviour rear
The VHP 16 has character, but requires familiarisation and an active riding style. We found the rear suspension lacking in comfort.
