The FR AMR is the longest travel bike in the new AMR series and, with a measured 167 millimetres of travel at the rear, is aimed at true enduro riders.

Thanks to the carbon main frame, the frame weighs just 2433 grams and also keeps the overall weight low. The FR AMR is correspondingly light-footed and agile. However, the Ghost reaches its limits when riding hard downhill with a rather steep steering angle. The fast compound Nobby Nic tyres roll well, but lack grip and puncture protection. While the Fox fork works perfectly, the shock offers too little counter-pressure, which also causes a lot of movement when pedalling. In platform mode, the suspension works more harmoniously. The otherwise flawless XT brakes had a negative effect due to a wandering pressure point.

Test summary of the Ghost FR AMR LC 8

With a lightweight carbon frame and touring tyres, more long-stroke all-mountain than potent enduro.

PLUS Lightweight frame, good propulsion
MINUS Low frame stiffness, rear suspension compression too low, tyres not suitable for the application

The alternative The FR AMR 7 for 3199 euros differs only minimally in terms of equipment. SLX instead of Shimano XT brakes and cheaper add-on parts. The price is due to the aluminium frame.
