As we all know, you can only spend money once. This applies equally to manufacturers and customers. If you opt for the expensive carbon frame material, you end up with less budget for the equipment and vice versa. A look at the components installed in our test group confirms this theory: in the price range between 3000 and 3700 euros, there is a particularly large gap between frame material and equipment quality. We wanted to find out which manufacturer offers the best combination.
Enduro bikes have to withstand tough conditions in everyday use, and this applies to both the frame and the components: Blocky descents, long jumps, high drops and the odd crash are the order of the day. Sophisticated chassis and well thought-out kinematics and geometries transform enduro bikes into downhill specialists and should also allow the large-stroke bikes to climb well. Serious enduro bikes are therefore expensive and not available for less than 2000 euros. Our seven test bikes are already in an ambitious range at at least 3000 euros and have outgrown the entry-level class
Why not free of charge? Because quality journalism has a price. In return, we guarantee independence and objectivity. This applies in particular to the tests in BIKE. We don't pay for them, but the opposite is the case: we charge for them, namely tens of thousands of euros every year.
