The aluminium version of the Cube One 77 Race impresses with its high-quality equipment and extremely playful handling. But the 3799-euro enduro bike from Cube also has its drawbacks.

The Cube One 77 Race is the more expensive of two aluminium models in Cube's Enduro range. If you absolutely want a carbon frame, you'll have to pay an extra
600 euros more for a C:68X model. However, those looking to save money will also get their money's worth with the One 77 Race. It is not without reason that Cube bikes are known for their excellent price-performance ratio.

Our test bike also comes with high-quality equipment. One highlight is certainly the high-quality Rockshox suspension in Ultimate quality, while Cube relies on Shimano XT for the gears and braking system. Lightweight Newmen aluminium wheels round off the high-quality package, making the One 77 one of the lighter bikes at 15.7 kilos. Only the very thin and poorly damping SDG grips were not to the liking of any of the testers.

The first bends on the freeride trail on the Geißkopf reveal the One 77 to be a playful cornering predator. The reach is very compact for an enduro bike in size L, and the chainstays have also been kept short. Overall, the Cube has a very playful character, is easy to pull onto the rear wheel and effortlessly push into tight turns.

However, in fast bumpy sections, where stability and the finest suspension control are required, the One 77 reaches its limit sooner and gets nervous faster than the best downhillers in the test. The rear suspension is not very plush and offers little counter-pressure.

How do you like this article?

The extremely short riding position is noticeable on the climbs: You sit very upright and comfortably. When pedalling out of the saddle, the rear suspension tends to pump. However, reaching for the platform provides a remedy.

Conclusion on the Cube Stereo One 77 Race by Laurin Lehner, tester:

The aluminium version of the One 77 Race stands out with its high-quality equipment and extremely playful character. There are drawbacks for the low smoothness and the rear suspension function.
