Whatever the Canyon Torque gets under its tyres, it remains extremely smooth-running. Uphill and downhill. The spec is also impressive compared to the other candidates in our enduro test. This makes it our test winner.

The Canyon Torque quickly emerged as the big bike among the enduro bikes and was also our number one bike for tackling the test track at maximum speed. The generous reach and the longest wheelbase in the test field give the Torque a high degree of composure. As a result, it still offers confidence even in rough, rough sections where other bikes mutate into a pinball. The rear suspension is also completely convincing and even feels like more than the measured 161 millimetres. The only drawback of the Rockshox Select+ shock is the non-adjustable compression damping for individual fine-tuning.

But the longest travel Canyon with a single crown fork can not only go downhill, it also pedals passably uphill. Thanks to the carbon frame, which weighs less than three kilos, the overall weight is average for the test field. Only Radon and Cube are lighter. When pedalling uphill, the rear suspension pumps only slightly and the shock platform also works very effectively. When seated, the combination of the 485 reach and steep seat angle positions you balanced on the bike with pressure on the front wheel.

Despite the carbon frame and the attractive price, the mail-order company doesn't shy away from the equipment. While Canyon relies on Rockshox Select+ suspension elements for the chassis, the gears are changed with a Sram GX Eagle. The Koblenz-based company also specs the tyres and wheels appropriately for the area of use. The DT Swiss freeride wheels with Maxxis double-down rear tyres are difficult to get up to speed, but offer the puncture protection you need for long days in the bike park.

Conclusion on the Canyon Torque 29 CF 7 by Dimitri Lehner, tester:

The Torque feels more at home on fast, rough terrain than any other enduro bike. There are more playful bikes for this. The equipment and carbon frame are impressive.
