Enduro test: Lapierre Spicy Team
The Team version of the Lapierre Spicy Enduro features the latest e:i-Shock generation and does without an additional control unit with display.

Instead, there is just a button on the stem with an LED light that indicates the current mode of the electronically controlled shock platform. That's all it needs. In automatic mode, the rear suspension does exactly what you expect it to do without having to constantly operate a lever. Full sensitivity on uneven ground and when rolling and an effective platform when pedalling when the ground is as smooth as a baby's bottom. The Spicy thus manages the balancing act of a lively, sensitive chassis, which sticks to the ground very well thanks to the grippy and well-damping Michelin tyres and still enables efficient propulsion. On high-speed sections, however, the agile Spicy with just under 150 millimetres of rear travel reaches its limits sooner.

Conclusionagile racing enduro bike that is perfectly complemented by the automatic shock absorber.

PLUS Reliable automatic mode on the damper, very sensitive rear suspension
MINUS Little heel clearance due to overhanging rear triangle, robust but heavy wheels/tyres

The alternative: Only the top model Spicy Team has a carbon main frame, the cheaper alternative (Spicy 527 e:i-Shock) for 3899 euros comes with an aluminium frame and also Rock-Shox suspension.
