The heavyweight in this Enduro test makes no secret of its preference and, with its robust, very stiff aluminium frame, is primarily aimed at fans of downhill sports.

Martin Maes and Dan Atherton's machine really comes into its own on difficult downhills in the Enduro World Series format. 170 millimetres of travel at the front and rear and a slack steering angle, which results in a long wheelbase that can't be rattled by anything. Downhill, the Sanction comes up trumps, as if it were patting the rider on the back and saying: "No matter what comes, I'm ready". It transmits a lot of confidence to the rider. Uphill, with just under 15 kilos on the scales, it becomes correspondingly tougher and more sedate. The handling of the long bike is not very playful. The seat angle of the long seat tube is very steep, which means you tend to pedal from the front.

Conclusion: a downhill-orientated enduro bike for tracks in the EWS format and less for the German Cup. Absolutely suitable for bike parks.

PLUS Full suspension, outstanding smoothness on demanding descents, very precise handling thanks to high rigidity
MINUS High total weight, long seat tube (limited saddle drop), heavy wheels, steep seat angle

The alternative: In Germany, the Sanction is only available in one equipment variant. Unfortunately, a frame kit is also not offered separately.

The GT Sanction offers plenty of suspension travel and is also very well tuned. Full marks for the suspension.Photo: BIKE Magazin The GT Sanction offers plenty of suspension travel and is also very well tuned. Full marks for the suspension.
