First of all, the higher price of the limited edition model of the YT Jeffsy Uncaged 8 has a positive effect on the weight. The mail-order bike weighs in at 15 kilos including pedals and thus weighs around 700 grams less than the long-stroke competition. The wheels also weigh less. In comparison, the Jeffsy hangs better on the throttle, pumps less when pedalling and collects the most points in the uphill classification. Due to the lower front (low stack), the riding position is also slightly sporty. The shorter suspension travel also supports the more direct riding feel.
The Jeffsy reacts less sluggishly and can be manoeuvred more effortlessly and playfully over the trail. The YT even cuts a fine figure in the bike park, but only as long as the trails don't get too rough. In the middle section of the freeride trail on the Geißkopf, where suspension travel is required, the enduro competition pulls away.
Less travel, the light wheels and a shorter wheelbase push the YT Jeffsy to its limits and make it nervous. Compared to most of the other enduro bikes in the test, the multi-adjustable Cane Creek suspension feels significantly firmer. Both the fork and the shock leave nothing to be desired for suspension nerds. The fork can also be converted to 160 millimetres of travel. The wide rear triangle and the limited space for a bottle cost points.
Peter Nilges, BIKE Test Manager: In the enduro environment, the Jeffsy impresses with the best propulsion and light-footed handling. In rough terrain, however, the All Mountain cannot hide the shorter suspension travel.
