Enduro duel: Nukeproof Giga 275 Elite vs YT Capra Core 4
Enduros suffer from hypertrophy. They are getting more and more muscle. These two bikes impressively demonstrate what competition machines can achieve.

We no longer understand the world! One run on both bikes on our Hill Bill test track in the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis bike park, and we have nothing but question marks on our faces. Is our popometer faulty? Are the data sheets lying? Or is everyone crazy now? Because these two enduro bikes couldn't be more different. One (YT): big, smooth, comfortable, confident in all positions and super fast - the other (Nukeproof): small, handy, manoeuvrable, firm and so direct that you have your hands full imposing your will on the bike and not the other way round! But now let's take a closer look!

In 2014, the Forchheim-based mail-order company YT amazed us with the first edition of the Capra enduro bike, because it was not only powerful on the downhill, but also deadly chic. "The iPhone of enduro bikes", we called it, because compared to the elegant shapes of the Capra, many other bikes looked like clumsy rubbish. Seven years later, the third edition of the "mountain goat" is now available. Now, in addition to the MX version with a small rear wheel, it is also available as an All-29.

We chose the carbon speedster of three-time EWS champion Sam Hill as our opponent: Nukeproof Giga in the Elite version at an almost identical price. "Monster truck of a bike" is what the Northern Irish call their bike with 180 mm suspension and they offer it in the tested 27.5 mm version and also as an all-29er.

Why not free of charge? Because quality journalism has a price. In return, we guarantee independence and objectivity. This applies in particular to the tests in FREERIDE. We don't pay for them, but the opposite is the case: we charge for them, namely tens of thousands of euros every year.

Eye-catcher: The shock is almost on the bottom bracket and is fixed to the down tube by carbon flaps. This looks elegant and lowers the centre of gravity. Eye-catcher: YT designer Stefan Bax tweaked the angle and tube diameter for better climbing characteristics and more DH power. He did away with the left bar on the down tube altogether; there's now room for a water bottle. Surprisingly, the aluminium model (2500 euros cheaper) weighs only 500 grams more.Photo: Wolfgang Watzke Eye-catcher: YT designer Stefan Bax tweaked the angle and tube diameter for better climbing characteristics and more DH power.
