A slack 65.4 steering angle combined with a very low bottom bracket and a longer reach position the Centurion Trailbanger 2000 clearly in the direction of a race enduro bike. To avoid unwanted pedal contact, Centurion has fitted cranks that are five millimetres shorter than the competition. With a weight of 15 kilos without pedals and a generous 170 millimetres of suspension travel, the Trailbanger mutates into a real battleship and is not ashamed to dangle from the lift or shuttle hook. The wheels and the lowerable fork are the main weight weights. Downhill, the Centurion delivers what the key data promises and offers confidence, whether steep, fast or blocked. The tyres and powerful Shimano Zee brakes with large discs also fit into the downhill-heavy picture. Uphill, the sensitive rear suspension remains very stable even without a platform. However, the heavy wheels slow down the agility. Not very playful despite the short chainstays.
Downhill-orientated enduro MTB with powerful suspension and smooth geometry that also cuts a fine figure in the bike park.
The alternative: The Trailbanger 1000 comes with SR Suntour dampers and Sram NX gears. The price is 2499 euros.
