A slack head angle, long reach and a low bottom bracket are the hallmarks of the new Bionicon rEVO excellent. Also new: the sales channel. In addition to the option of ordering online, a dealer network is to be set up as a contact point for customers. In the version we tested, Bionicon uses a multi-adjustable Cane Creek suspension system. This requires a certain amount of expertise and sensitivity until the setup is just right. The suspension then works well, but the fork lacks some sensitivity despite the open compression damping. We would have liked a little more progression (volume spacer) on the shock and had to run the low-speed rebound fully open. In terms of handling, however, the Bionicon is absolutely balanced and smooth. Uphill, the rear suspension pumps only slightly and can also be tightened effectively using the climb switch lever on the shock. Wide rims ensure a large tyre volume. However, a grippier tyre would be a better choice at the front.
Geometry and handling are fully convincing. There is still room for improvement in the chassis.
The alternative: The rEvo starts at just 2899 euros. With X-Fusion suspension and the patented Climb-Air levelling system.
