Exotic: Carbon premiere at BESV, Storck's special all-mountain e-bike, a Swiss ultra-lightweight and an Italian exotic from Austria - these four e-MTBs are anything but ordinary.

1 Storck e:drenalin.2 SRS

Carbon fibre lightweight construction meets striking power! Storck is expanding its all-mountain series with the e:drenalin.2 SRS with the powerful Sachs RS motor. The powerhouse delivers a maximum of 112 Newton metres of torque and is powered by a large 725 battery. The Storck e-bike is also impressive in terms of suspension travel. The DT Swiss F535 suspension fork provides 160 mm of travel - the DT Swiss R535 shock provides 150 mm. Of course, you no longer shift gears mechanically on an e-MTB like this. The Idstein-based manufacturer uses a Sram GX Eagle AXS drivetrain. Storck recently launched the German Design Award has won five more awards with its bikes - including the e:drenalin.2 - and can now look back on an impressive 100 design awards in 25 years. Now available from 7499 euros.

2 BESV All Mountain TCA and Enduro TCE

Until now, BESV had nothing more to offer than aluminium. In 2023, the young brand, which belongs to the Taiwanese Darfon Group, is venturing onto the market with two carbon full-suspension bikes from the Canadian FactionBike design team. BESV is the complete e-bike brand of the Darfon Group, which is mainly active in the fields of control units, energy and power technologies and environmental technologies. Behind it is the BenQ Group, known for computer monitors and other IT and consumer electronics. The BESV All Mountain TCA will be available in two versions, the Enduro TCE in three, each with a 720 Wh smartphone battery. The TCA starts at 6499, the TCE (photo) at 6799 euros.

3 Malaguti LTD-C

In its third model year, Malaguti presents its first E-MTB with a carbon frame. The colourful design of the 170-millimetre enduro bike is reminiscent of the motorbike brand's Italian roots. However, the brand is owned by the Austrian KSR Group from Gedersdorf, north-west of Vienna. The chic frame houses the Bosch Performance Line CX motor with a 625 Wh power tube, while the Austrians have also provided high-quality Sram AXS components, such as the electronic 12-speed drivetrain and an RS Reverb AXS dropper post. The Rock Shox ZEB Ultimate suspension clears obstacles on the ground. The brakes are fitted with Sram Code RSC stoppers. Mixed tyres (mullet, i.e. 29-inch front, 27.5-inch rear) ensure agility on the trail. In terms of weight, the Malaguti LTD-C should be around 23 kilos. The price: 9799 euros.

4 Thömus Lightrider E Ultimate

The lightest e-MTB in the world: With the Thömus Lightrider E Ultimate, you have the choice - trail bike or racer, small or slightly larger battery (250, 360, 426 Wh and a range extender with 250 Wh). This means that the suspension travel varies between 120 - 150 mm at the front and 120 - 140 mm at the rear. The head tube angle is 65.5 (140 mm travel) or 66.5 degrees. Thömus also offers a choice between Shimano Deore 1x11 (the cheapest version; 6390 CHF, equivalent to around 6490 euros), SLX - XTR 1x12 or Sram Eagle AXS 12-speed drivetrain - the most expensive version at the equivalent of 9740 euros. Propulsion is provided by the minimalist Bikedrive Air from Maxon (30 Nm), which is also mainly responsible for the weight of the Lightrider. Thanks to the compact size of the system, the battery is concealed in the frame.

Maxon is not a newcomer to the electric motor business: they have already developed drive motors for robots on Mars. And the Swiss company Thömus has also been synonymous with "bike" high-tech from Bern for 30 years, which Olympic medallist Mathias Flückiger also relies on. The race version allegedly weighs just 14.8 kilos thanks to its short stroke and mini battery. The Thömus Lightrider E is available now - in three colours.
